How gay-friendly is Catalina Island?
Avalon is small, polished, and openly welcoming rather than scene-heavy. The island tourism authority belongs to IGLTA and organizes an annual Catalina Pride weekend with a Pride Walk, drag, DJs, and waterfront programming. Outside Pride, there is no dedicated year-round gay bar, gay beach, or gay sauna on the island.
Wrigley Stage and the waterfront become the Pride hub in June; the rest of the year, Catalina's queer appeal is the easygoing harbor, snorkeling, food, and golf-cart-scale glamour. Club Chi participates in Pride nightlife, but event venues and schedules change. Think inclusive island escape, not Fire Island with bison.
