How gay-friendly is Costa Maya?
Costa Maya is a cruise port plus the beach town of Mahahual, not an established gay destination. Mexico permits same-sex relationships and LGBTQ+ events, but no dedicated gay bar, gay beach, or gay sauna was verified within 30 miles. The social atmosphere is mostly mixed beach clubs, excursion groups, and the ship crowd you brought with you.
Mahahual's malecón is about three miles from the cruise complex and lines up casual beach clubs, food, massages, and sea views. Pez Quadro is one current, established beachfront option, but it is gay-friendly in the ordinary welcome-everyone sense—not a gay venue. For a queer shore day, choose the beach, ruins, lagoon, or cooking experience you actually want and let the ship provide the theme party.
